After a brief lull in summer tourism, the anticipation of the fall foliage has many of us preparing for various festivals and golf outings. The colors are a way TURFGRASS w» of signaling changes that are occurring in nature, preparing it for the ASSOCIATION winter season soon to come. We, as turf managers, also use the autumn months to prepare our courses for the coming winter. Getting air to the roots and relieving compaction from the summer’s PRESIDENT traffic seems to take precedence over the normal routines of keeping the course in Jeff Peters, CGCS playing condition. Soon leaves will be falling, fertilization programs will be instituted, Valley Country Club construction projects will be started, and irrigation systems will be winterized. The change from “keeping it alive” to “getting it done” seems appropriate for the season. VICE PRESIDENT Ron Garrison, CGCS Autumn is also a time of change for your Association. Election of officers and Glen Oak Country Club members to the Board of Directors are held at our annual meeting in October. This is your opportunity to have a say in the direction you feel your Association should be SECRETARY/TREASURER growing. I strongly urge all members to attend and to share their opinion. Mike Vella Clinton C. C. Since I will be leaving office this October, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their support and cooperation the past two years. Without PAST PRESIDENT your participation this Association would be non-existent. I would also like to extend a Hal Parr, Jr., CGCS special thank you to our product support people for their help in various events and Fox Hill C. C. projects. DIRECTORS It has been a pleasure for me to serve such a fine group of professionals. I truly Kelly Kressler enjoyed working closely with the other Officers and Directors. Their dedication to Southmoore Golf Course their committees has been extraordinary. A special thanks to Ron for providing an informative education format; to Mike for monitoring our finances and keeping the Stephen Stranzl minutes; to Scott for increasing our newsletter to a bi-monthly publication; to Jim for Green Acres Golf Course extending our concerns to ailing members; to Jack for making the golf tournaments enjoyable for all who participate; to Steve for coordinating our fundraiser; to Kelly for Jim MacLaren his membership recruitment and new roster format; to Hal for his time re-writing our Pro-Lawn Products, Inc. by-laws and for being our delegate to the GCSAA; and to Leile for getting our meeting notices out in a timely fashion. Well done! I am sure with the membership’s support Jack Bird they will continue to keep our Association strong. The Hideout, Inc. Good luck in all future endeavors.... Scott Schukraft Jeffrey A.
