we are Encamped [20?] miles from
Fourt Levenworth Kansas the
great Place & State we have hurd
so much about it is a nise
country & I like it here much
indeed the talk is now that
we will go a crost the Plaines 
to gard a Train of Waggons the

6th Mich Cav Leaves tomorrow
the Boys are all very much 
Disapointed & so am My self 
but I supose I shal have
to stand it well hear is one
that can if Eny one can but
I would much rather come Home
for I Do think I have Don
my share in this war but the
Officers of the Regt, & Brigade
sold the Boys

hear that you got that place
straitand up & if you wish
to move out thare & Do as if it
was your own Place & take care
of it for god only knows when
I can come home & he wouldn’t
tell for less than a pint of Whiskey 
I did not think Joel Hegus [?]
