Celebrating the grit and courage of the Bully Boys of Michigan at various battles in the War. They insult Jefferson Davis based on the rumor that he wore his wife's shawl to disguise himself following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Davis felt the need to flee because President Andrew Johnson offered a bounty for his capture. The reference to Davis' capture dates the song sometime after May 10, 1865.
