Oct 26 the 62[?] Dear Father & Mother & all once more I sit down to write a little to you I am well this Morning but I Should like to go to Meeting in wright to day but I cannot so I must be contented with my lot I think I am but it looks very different this morning than I expected to see this time of the year & I feel as though I needed a pair of Boots now. the Snow is much as 6 inches deep this morning it is more Snow than I expected to See down here by Lexington I think we had better move back north to winter where we don’t have so much Snow as we do here in the South we have drawn Eight bread for a day or two & we traded some Coffee for some butter & bread & butter goes fine down here Sometimes we get a little Jonnycake & meat. I got a little Apple Saus & [Buissant?] it goes fine I tell you they keep us very tight nowdays the Boys will get out sometimes Sometimes they get catched at it and then they get tied up for a few hours the boys are are Sitting & Standing around here talking about the War Philip is Sitting at my back Ralph is here & James & Jude George & Albert Carver Ira Briant has got the Measles & Frank Farnam to. they are at the Hospital & Michael is at the Hospital Sick Luther is there as a nurse. the Boys are all think & the Colonel thinks we we will all get home by next Spring I hope we will if the war is over I think the Secesh are Sick of the business according to their own papers I Saw down here in Lexington where wh Some buildings had been burnt it is sad there was 300 rebels guns & 13 united States [horses?] burnt but I must Close. I read those letters from home the other day I was very glad to read them & to here from [Jerome?] I hope you will all continue well & that we may meet again before long but if we meet not on earth let us meet where parting is no more where there is no trouble nor pain orders are break up & get ready for Company inspection arms & knapsacks I must get ready we have had inspection & I will finish now another one of our Regiment died last night Some of the Boys are agoing to Send after Some Boots James & Ralph & Some more & I want a pair So we think we will Send for a box of things & you may Send me a handerchief if you want are a mind to I do want to ask to much of you Boots are from 10 to 19 dollars a pair so they say you can pay for them out of the money that I left Send it to Lexington Kentucky write Soon all of you. & tell me what you can do So good Bye Albert
