	    Dear Brother

			It is with
pleasure that I now sit down to write you
a few lines. The folks are all well. & I hope
that this will find you the same. Henry
has jest been home on a visit. He Is a
going to start from Grand Rapids today.
He is a going to Kentucky. It may be that
you will get a peep at him. Abe is sick
with the measles they say he cant live. Bill
& his Mother are there with him. I am at
school we have good times. [illegible] & Albert has
comenced there schools. It seems to me you
			       you
dont write to us as often as ^ used to.
    Laura is a setting here with me a writing she
is a coming to school. When Henry was at home
Oc and I went & had our likenesses taken for him
he paid for them, & if you want them you
must let ue know. I want you to send
me 3 & then I will pay you when you come
home or before if you need it. I want it to send
& get a paper with if you have not got it [crossed out] [never]
to spare never mind do you heer from Jim
we have not heerd from him but once since he got

to Washington. I shall have to close for the
present for school has called & I must get my
lessons. Delos Burch is a paying his best respects
to Diantha R. & Bill his Oc what do you think
of that. I will tell you I think it is false work
with the [r?] last. well Gust waits on Permelia
& Laura C I dont belive he knows which he
likes the best. Gust has cut Albert Burch out
completely four Roy. There has a lot more gone
to war from around here. I will give a list James 
Martin James Carpenter & George [Herrindean?]
& Car Webester & Mr Huelson & Mr Holonel &
Sam Brigam they all went in the [illegible] Co at
Detroit. & Dr [illegible] is a geting up a
Company. I will give a list of the names that went
from around here. Marcus Anis & Bill Anis &
George Heart & Pa Randolph & Merit Randolph
& some other boys in another Company
	I think that Michigan has done
well for a new place. Iseral Tylor has enlisted
to. There is not much news to write now.
    Mother will write to you so I will say nothing
for her  Elisa sends her love to you & the boys send
theirs. Octavia sends her best respects to you &
says you must write. & she wanted me to tell you
that it was thanksgiving to day. Edd I have got
my hair shingled. Give my love to all the boys & a

Friday Morning

		    Dear Edd
		        I will .. this
morning write you a few lines for
mother. Last night she wants you to find out where
James is & write to us & let us know &
she wants to know if you are warm clothed
enough. & if you have got a warm tent.
She says you must not look for a letter
from her verry often for she has not got
money to pay postage. I cant write much
this morning for it is late & we want to
send them to the post office. She sends her
best respects to you & says you must be a 
good boy & obey.
