     Dear brother and sister
once more I resume my
seat to pen you a few
	          hand
lines The kind ^ of providence
still spares our health
health business still
prospers with us The draft
went off very quietly here
George Honeywell is drafted
that is all I believe
that is you are acquainted
with I have escaped
the draft this time I
am among the lucky
for once. As I was
reading over the list of
men that were drafted
in your town and that
of Milford I learned
that you and many more 


many more of our
acquaintances wer enrolled
on the list It truly gives
us sad hearts but knowing
that it is the will of
the great creator of us all 
we feel that we shuld 
not murmur. But I must
draw to a close for it is
getting late therefore
     will
we ^ console ourselves by
believeing that you will
not go write soon and
let us know your intentions

Monday Afternoon
Dear brother & sister I
take my pen for afew moments to write
to you hopeing that this will find you
all well as it leaves us at present. It was
sad news to us to hear that you was 
drafted but Carlos says that he dose not
think that you will go. But I am afraid
that you will I am thankfull that Carlos
is left but prehaps they will take him
next time. Joseph I wish that you would 
not go but I do not know what to
write I feell so bad I can not write I
wish that we was there if we had not
been home we would come now I want
you should write us along letter as soon
as you get this and tell us what you
are going to do I feell so about your
going how can you leave Sarah and them
littel boys it is very hard for me to think
of your going but when I think of her her
I think that I can spare you better then
