Feb 25th /64 Dear brother and sister I recieved your letter to day. It found us well and enjoying about as blustering a day as we have had this winter but not so so cold. The boys in Highland have done well in regard to enlisting but the city of Saginaw is a little a- =head yet. The quota in the first ward is full so you see I have escaped another draft better be born lucky than rich so old women say I think the quota of the whole city is full but am not certain The price of potatoes is $1 – 25 cts per bushel peddled. butter .35 & 36 cts according to customers eggs have been fifty cts but r the price has dec^eased a little dont know how much, dried apples are worth one shilling per pound in the store peaches 30 cts green apples are worth $1. per bushel corn $1=33cts per bushel. You spoke of my working for you this summer I have sold my place and am prepared to work for you if you want me according to your terms if we can agree on the price and I think we can [five words crossed out] I do not know hardly ^ what price to set because I do not know what the house rent and wood is worth. But I [crossed out] [supp] suppose that twenty dollars per month is the going wages you can reccon from that what you can afford to pay I suppose you will want me to board myself suit yourself about that if you want me I should like to get you to move us out there if out here you come ^ so you can.
