Jenuary the 21 – 1863 My dear wife it is with pleasure that i hav got the opertunity To Write a few lines to you To let you no how i Be at This time is am sick i gess it aint nothing But a Bad Coald I am quite deaf in one ear so it Bothers me to hear any Badey speak to me enless they speak very laud to me I Came off from gard last night fealling very Bad in my head And i had to leav and Came To my tent and lay down And i dont feal much Better But i gess i shall git over it Before great While their is a good meny is sick out hear in this Camp some is very sick hear I am tired of a solgers life i tell you but i Think that i shall Be more tired then i Be [illegible] i gess Before i git home But i some think that We shall git home next somer some time But We Cant tell much a Bout it We hav got the god damdes living out hear you could Ever think of We have to eat The damdes stinking Beaf To eat and not half a nuff of that We hav first Rait good Bred and We hav got Coffey to drink this is all We hav to eat and this is what we have every day to eat We dont hav eny Chang of eating one thing over And over We hav got tired of it John Bardman got a letter from his wife and that letter stated that you did not get my letters and i dont no What is the Reason you dont git them I hav Writen three letters to you Besides this one and this Will make fore that i hav rote to you And i hope that you Will git this letter to Read BeCaus i no if you haint Had any letters from me you must Waunt to hear from me very Bad and As soon as John red his letter i get Write down and Comence This letter i am very sory That you did not git my letters But i dont Waunt you to Wait to git A letter from me evry Time Befor you Write to me I got Almons letter And i Was very glad to Hear from you and hear That you Was all Well We haint got eny money Paid to us yet and i dont No When We Will git eny But i hope Before great While i can't Write much more to you BeCaus i haint got no Postage stamps I Wish that When you answer This letter you Would Put in some Postage stamps in the letter and send it To me so i can hav somthing To Pay my Postage With Their is fore or five Cases of the small Pox hear in Camp Sallyann i Wil send you a small Ring that i hav maid for you And i Waunt you to keep it and Remember me Bengaman Brock this is all this time
