Headquarters 10th Mich Infty in the front June 5th/64 Dear Mother We left Dallas on the second and moved about four miles to the left where we relieved the 23rd Corps and took the front line of breast works yesterday morning the 4th Corps relieved us and we moved a mile and a half farther to the left to this place where we joined the rest of our Corps. There is a rumor in camp that the rebels have evacuated our men have advanced into their first line of works I guess it must be so for I have not heard any firing this morning and we just have orders to fall in at 12 oc1ock to fire of our guns which is another good sign. We have only lost three men out of the regt since we got back one was killed and the other two wounded one of them lost his arm. We have not got any mail yet but expect to day. We had a tremendous thunder storm on the 3rd of this month and it has been raining more or less ever since. Night before last our boys and the rebs made an agreement not to fire any during the night and they talked across to other each ^ all night. I have not sold my watch yet it has stoped runing the mainspring is out of place there is a man in the regiment going to fix it for me as soon as we get into camp where he can have a chance Last night was the first time I have had my boots and cartridge box off in over a week. I expect we have got to go on another tramp after the rebels, but I would rather chase them than fight them. The 14th Mich joined the Brigade yesterday I saw Nick Devereaux he said he had not heard from home since he got back. I saw Captain Bangs of the 9th he looks well. Give my love to Father and Georgy give my respects to all inquiring friends From your affect son W. Bostock
