Camp 10th Mich. V.V. Infty Near Kenasaw Mountain June 21st, 1864 Dear Mother Since I wrote to you last we have driven the Rebels about two miles. They are now on the top of Kenasaw Mountain and we lay at the foot of it. Our Regt was on the skirmish line yesterday there was two men wound- ed out of Co I none out of our Company this morning there was one man wounded in Co H also Leiut Wheeler of Co E this is his second wounded he was wounded at Buzzards Roost the Rebs can shoot right down on to us we have to build barricades in front of our tents and cover them with brush. I worked nearly all night last night building one in front of mine. The Rebs have not used much artillery in this Campaign, yesterday they opened a battery on the mountain and our men comenced to shell them it was the heavyest cannonading I ever heard I should think that there was no less than fourty discharges a minnit we soon silenced their battery This morning we can see them throwing up fortification our batterys throw a shell up there once in a while and then you ought to see them skedaddle behind their works. There is a good many of our men wounded by our own shells although it is no fault of the gunners or the guns it is the ammunition not being good. We have not drawed any pay yet nor I do not think we will untill this campaign is over. We get a plenty of rations but we cannot get any toback tobacco. I don't know whether you can read this or not I have a very poor pen and my hand shakes terribly I have not heard from Georgy yet give my love to Father and believe me your affect son William Bostock WB.
