William writes that he will be mustered out of service very soon. He hopes the soldiers will be paid after they get back, otherwise he believes they will spend all their earnings on alcohol. William also mentions how the remaining men in his regiment are upset because they are only given hard bread for rations, while the Army of the Potomac receive soft bread.
