Dec"10"1865 Dear Brother your letter I received two days since and I take the present opportunity to write to you. we are all well here, and getting along verry well considering all things. we have got the work about all done. Alex & me went yesterday & made cider. this is the fourth time we have made cider this fall. we have about Sixteen barrels. it sells for about 18@cts per Gallon $50. Dolls worth of apples so you can see we will make pretty well out of the orchard this Season. George is up to Johnsons I do not know how long he means to Stay there. I Suppose you know that Sarah and Almond. are married. Miss Varnie teaches school there this winter. Rosella Campbell teaches in the [Frick?] District. Diantha Hurd in Thayers & a Sister of Ollivers Millers wife teaches at the center. they had a dance to Downeys since we have been Home. Alex & me were there Father is up to Loveland now has been up there about a week. the weather here is veryy fine now. & we have had no snow to speak of yet. we have not hardly fed anything yet the fall has been so fine we have built a log stable thirty feet long. & got out some lumber & fixed up a sheep shed so we are pretty well off for Shelter this winter. we think of building a barn next summer Now I dont Expect you will get out of the Service much before your time is out. but that wont be long. I would advise you to look out for your money, and save all you can and then you will have something to work with when you do get discharged. I dont know wether Alex & me will stay here or not. but probably will not go away before you get back. tell Allen I seen his folks a few days ago they were all well. give him my best respects. Alex. has gone up to Loveland today [two words illegible] & Frank Downey are Home, also well. Husted.
