Sunday Sep 8th '67 My Dear Daughter, You say you must have our advice about staying longer _ My advice is for you to do what you may deem most likely to inure to your recovery & I will gladly meet any expense it may incur ¬_ You have a fuller view of the situation than I can possibly have & your judgement is as good as it ever can be¬¬_ always remembering that I value your health above every earthly consideration & that I would freely give every thing I have to see you once more hearty_ Dr Jacksons' refusing to give you directions for home treatment does look selfish & penurious _ that is if his hospital is not full _ if it is, it may be disinterested _ Mrs Dicks who was there six months says the Dr always talked extravagantly to retain his customers when his house was not full _ So her husband told me yesterday _ I was in town yesterday but could not find Dr [Higday?] but saw Dr [Maker?] _ He said there was such a thing as disease mesenteric glands produced by Typhoid fever & that it might if neglected run into Consumption of the bowel _ Dr Brown said that diet & rest offered the only chance to cure such a complaint _ It is strange that Dr H did not perceive what Dr [I?] says is the matter, but really I don't suppose that [Higday?] is very Knowing _ I have not enclosed the check for $80 that you spoke in your last as I supposed that in any event you would remain where you are long enough to write again telling us what you wish and to receive letters from us in return _ My Dear Janie you want our advise what to do I am sure I do not know what to advise I thought of your coming to Cleveland perhaps you would be better satisfied. you Know we want you to get well no matter what the expense of course we would rather have
