Sunday Sep 29 '67 Dear daughter We have recd yours of the 22nd [inst.?] _ You seem to suppose that Mother worries over your case _ but really she shows no more than a natural anxiety about you & rests exceedingly well content that you are doing well _ I should judge that as you say that you are at least no worse, that perhaps you are a little better, for I have always had faith in your getting well _ As if I joined any church it would have to be the old School Presbyterian or Mahomedan, you may suppose that I rest satisfied that all will be for best, or at least if not so that I can't help it _ As at present adviser I can see no use of your stopping at [illegible] If you wish to try a method of care different from the one you are under _ why try the [illegible] cure or any other you would prefer _ but I beleive I would condemn one before I would try another But as I have said before do whatever you may deem best & I will be content _ In coming home take easy stages & don't tire yourself Give me timely warning, how much money to send you and & I will see to the matter punctually _ The boys say that Perry Montgomery is learning Tom had tricks, as he rides him off every Sunday afternoon to see the girls but as Perry is a very light weight, very steady & careful, there can be no objection, especially as he goes to the [illegible] near Uncle Henry's – Tom looks very well & feels ditto _ I rode him to W. yesterday & as to the blue Kitten he grows like a greenhay horse _ Give yourself no uneasiness about squandering means _ Any expenditure that gives any rational hope of releif is well laid out _ and I wish you to do whatever you may think for the best & I will never complain of the cost _ Charley Melcher was jut complaining that Henry out- weighed him one pound _ We have had no frost yet to hurt even sweet potatoes or pumpkin vines, tho' now & all day it has been blowing a very hard gale from the N_E_ but oh what a drouth! The clouds are flying & becoming darker & so as Jim is just ready to put a new roof on his house I suppose it will rain _ "nous verrons" as old Tom Ritchie used to say _ Affectionately [yr?] father ChW Cathcart
