Camp [Jo?] Reynolds Indianapolis October 17./62 Dear Father I arrived here Safe yesterday evening. my head has ached ever since I left home or Westville rather and aches yet Some not very bad. The news this morning is rather discourageing in regard to the election it is thought that the butternut ticket is elected I hope not write and tell have you seen Mr Colfax since I left how does he feel after the election. I found everything right on my return my man had drawn Great coats knap & haversacks and a good many other things he tended to my business, very well while I was at home our Officers are not elected or rather appointed yet a good many of our men are home yet. Some seem to think that we will remain here all winter off course we have no way of knowing when we will leave.
