Camp Kerky Louisville K T October 28th 1862 Dear Father I feel so well that I thought I would write and let you know how I. am this morning I feel almost well I am weak yet of course. I came back to camp yesterday it is more pleasant staying in camp than at a private house. Our Regiment is in Col Moores Brigade they say that our Camp is called Camp Jewitt we have a very good camp ground Sunday I saw about five hundred Rebel prisoners they were an awful sight indeed no two dressed alike some old grey headed men. some very young dressed very poorly indeed. I have been in the Galt house the house that Gen Nelson was shot in. by Daviss. this is a very large city indeed I must close give my love to all Your Obedient Son James L Cathcart
