Camp Jewett Louisville October 31st 1862 Dear Father I received your letter about an hour ago and was very glad to hear from home this being the second letter. I am very glad that I saved you the trip here by getting well and by writing to the girls so that you heard from me. I am quite well now I have not strength enough yet to walk over a mile without resting I am perfectly well but without strength as I said I will be glad to get the likenesses and money I suppose I can get them tomorrow I will see about them. Our Col is appointed Major Alexander. N. Fowler from the [crossed out] [fiften] (15) Inda Vols he is from South Bend Inda our Sr Col's name is Dehart I have not learnt where he is from he has not joined the Regiment yet. I expect to go to Indianapolis next Monday and remain a couple of days. Uncle Barclay Jannie writes me is going home by the way of Indianapolis maybe we will met there. how do our republican friends feel after the election I suppose they feel very kindly towards you at least they ought to.
