Camp Jewett Louisville Ky Nov 6th 1862 Dear Father this morning we recieved marching orders to go to Columbus Ky we expect to go on Steam boats we will have a great time getting our wild mules on board 12 mule teams 3 ambulances two horses to one ambulance. six mules to one team. 72 mules 12 horses makes quite a train of baggage. I dont know when we will leave here I think some time tomorrow from what the Col says. I have ten times the business to see to than any man in the regt I find that it is a very very busy place indeed, the Quarters in town here think that the Quarter of the 99th Regt wants a great deal they dont like to see any of the 99th Regt coming. give my love to all your Obedient son Lt Jas L Cathcart [Jr?] [illegible] 99 regt Inda Vols
