Will criticizes several alleged "Copperheads" in his battalion whom he describes as lacking "Patriotism." He notes that anti-war sentiment back home greatly decreases morale among the troops, and he worries this could jeopardize a Union victory. Will goes on to say that he opposes the use of African American soldiers in the Union Army, but he is willing to tolerate the policy if it helps them win the war. He closes by discussing camp life and the reorganization of his division.
