Copy United States Marshal's Office Indianapolis, Ind., March 31, 1863. Dear Josephine I rec.d a telegram from Jane yesterday saying " Letter dated 19th Wm F Peabody's remains will be sent you here, they must come through Indianapolis come with them if possible " I immediately telegraphed to her to Know where to take the body _ that is home or Laporte _ I suppose from what I hear of the roads I had better take it by rail to Laporte _ Yet if the roads would permit I thought perhaps you would (as well as J.P.) prefer the funeral to take place from our house _ I do not know where the body is nor in what state of preservation it may be _ I will come home with it _ but when it will arrive here I do not know _ any word left with Geo Thompson at Westville he would most likely give me when the train arrives at Westville _ Jane if in Laporte or some one else if she has gone home will get my telegram and inform me where to take the body from the cars _ As I do not know where the letter was written, nor by whom (but of course suppose by James Peabody) and as so much time has transpired since the date of the letter, I am at a good deal of a loss what to do _ But under all circumstances will do the best I can _ Of course I will come home with the remains_ Affectionately [Mr?] Ch W Cathcart Mrs Josephine Cathcart Westville Ind.a
