[illegible] Milwaukee Wis Jan 30th/62 Dear Wife I wrote a letter to you 2 days ago but as Some of the Boys are going home to day on a furlough I though I would Send along a few lines to let you know that we are all well I could got a chance to go home to day, but I thought that I would not be the first to got home sick Burnett and myself will be apt to go home on a furlough in a bout 2 weeks if nothing happens more than I know of at present Ben Greenman Levi Allen Henry Clery & Robert McMicheal is all going on a furlough to day – Burnett Received his Commission last night of 2nd Lieutenant of the Badax Tigers you [illegible] and Mrs Burnett try and Enjoy yourselves as well as you can and dont be uneasy about us nor get the Blues yourselves; the weather is quite cold to day but but it is Clear and nice overhead; we have good Sleighing here now and I saw a man by improving it last night ^ riding in a Small Sleigh Drawn By two large Newfoundland dogs I have not Received any letter from you yet But I am looking Every day for one.
