(1862 Bolivar Tenn. Aug, 12th Dear Wife I Sit down to write you a few lines to in form you that I am well and hope this may find you the Same, I have not Rec,d any letter from you Since two weeks ago to day So I thought I would write anyhow I would have written Sooner but I kept looking for a letter from you; But none come yet though I Shall look for one every day until I get it; we are Still here in Bolivar and I think it is probable that we will Remain here all Summer, I would mutch Rather [crossed out] [S] Stay here than at Corinth for we have good water here and at Corinth it was verry poor and Scarce at that there is nothing of Importance transpiring here at present, though when we was ordered here; they thought that this place would Soon be attacked by the Rebels but I have not heard of [crossed out] [in] any Sesesh forces of any Size near here; though there is a Band of Girillas prowling around here but are careful to keep their distance I Rec,d a letter from Brother Isaac last week he is Still in Leavenworth he Said that he was in tolerable good health he has not got his discharge he is now detailed on Extra duty in the Hospital and gets Extra pay I got a letter the other day from James Lowrie of Viroqua dated July 30th he Said that Him Berry and Jerry Rusk was trying to Raise a Company for the 25th Reg,t in [Vernot?] County But Says that Recruiting goes Slow and will go So until after harvest; I guess So too; I, Also Rec,d a letter two or three days ago from David and Nancy Ingersoll dated July 24th [crossed out] [illegible] David Ingersoll and Green Sallee had got home from Wis; David Said that the folks was all well he Said that he had bought a Drum for Charlie and while he was writing he Said Charlie was trying to play the fife and Drum at the Same time; he Said that Charlie and Grand Ma, Said they would give all the Old Shoes they had if they could get to see me David said he was going to write to you I wrote to you before that I would Send you the letter that I got from Susan but I forgot to put it in I will Send it in this if I dont forget it again [Written upside down on top of Scan 4] I will Write More Next time T.J. Davis [End] Will Cleary got a letter to day from Henry Cleary and Old [illegible in original] Stevenson, they are Still at Benton Baricks St Louis Henry is awful homeSick; he is a fraid that his wifes Heart will Break and Cave in; if he dont get home Soon; but he is Still afraid that he will be Exchanged and Sent back to the Regiment again .I found one of my Cousins the Other day in the 61st Ills Vol I had not Saw him for three years he was Verry glad to See me and So was I to See him I Believe all of the Boys here are tolerable well; we left four of our Co. back in the Hospital at [Written upside down - mail] Corinth; Old David Arnott our fifer [Written upside down - not verry Safe Sending money in the] J.M.
