Camp Near Corinth Miss Sept 1st 1862 Dear Wife I Rec,d your letter to day dated Aug 23 & 24th and was glad to hear that you was well I am as well as usual; Alvin Caulkins Rec,d a letter from home to day the Same date of yours the weather is quite warm yet yet but I am glad that the fall of the year is coming around again and ere long we may begin to Expect a more cool and bracing atmosphere I am getting tired of Summer weather in this climate I am glad that you Rec,d that money all Safe quite a Number of the Tigers Sent their money by Express before I Sent that but they have not got any returns from it yet But I hope they will not loose it for the soldiers Earn all the Money they get, without loosing any you did not write whether Burnett give you them Notes or not that I Sent to you that I had on Baker whitney and Johnson it is in two Notes of fifty nine Dollars Each Making One hundred and Eighteen Dollars Since a year ago last June with Interest ^ if he did not give them to you; you must try and get them before Burnett goes away I think Burnett has acted quite Indifferant towards me Since he went Back; Rather too mutch So to look well; and you must Make him come down to Lemerick and get the Money and watch and if Lowrie will not give you a Receipt for it payable when called for in the Same kind of [crossed out] [illegible] Money Just take it and keep it yourself and be careful not to loose it or let it get Stolen I am verry glad [crossed out] [illegible] to think you are So prudent in Saving Money But I do not wish you to Suffer for the want of it; I can assure you that I will not Spend money ^ Extravigantly while I am in the army and I hope by being prudent we will be able to live More Easily by and by; we will be paid off again Sometime this month perhaps in ten or fifteen days; as that money went through all Right I will Send you ten dollars more in this letter; I got a letter yesterday from David Ingersoll he wrote that little charlie was well and all the Rest of the folks David has Enlisted as Drummer and going to the war; I got a letter from my Brother O.K.
