Davis describes the celebration of Christmas in the army, but says that it hardly felt like Christmas. He says that the African Americans located in Holly Spring had a celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation, but that he did not particpate. His regiment is experiencing fair weather and has received orders to march. Davis thinks that they may be headed to Grand Junction, and briefly reports on the health of his friends from home.
