[1862 Pittsburg Landing Tennssee Seven Miles out April 28th I Sit Down to write you a few more lines to let you know that I Still live and in tolerable g ood health hoping this may find you well; I have been looking Several days for a letter from you but have not received an answer to any letter that I have written to you from here this is the 3rd letter that I have wrote to you from here but I think I will get one in a few days; Robert McMichael; Orderly Sergeant Carter; John White; Bas [?] Mungon [?]; Ike Newell [?] and Several others arrived here night before last they got through all Safe Robert Brougt Several letters for the Boys But he did not have any for me I hope you have g ot the letters I have wrote to you Since the Battle as I Supose you woul be Somewhat uneasy until you heard, Walt Odell Rec,d a letter from Jabe to day it was dated April 6th he was then at Lexington K.Y. he Said that they would Tenn Start for Cumberland Gap ^ in a few days he Said he was well, he did he not Say that ^ had Rec,d any letter from me; Several of the boys have Just got letters to day the first that [illegible] of them have Rec,d in answer to letters they have written Since the Battle; Some had become uneasy for fear that our letters had not been Sent out we have moved our Camp out out Seven miles from the landing towards Corinth; we are in the 6th Division and will be in the Reserve in case of an attack; instead of the advance as we were before; there is all kinds of gas and gammon [?] talked through the camp it makes matars [?] a Sensible Sick to listen to the Different Reports that us is afloat every day Some think that the Rebels will Soon attack ^ again and Some think that they will Soon Evacuate Corinth and leave and it is hard to tell what will happen as Soldiers and company Officers Know but little of what is transpiring outside of our camp if the Rebels do not attack us Soon from the movements of our army we will soon attack them for there is Bound to be a Big fight or a fast foot Race here before many days Buell is trying to get Beauregards army Surrounded if he Succeeds in doing it there will be a pretty hard fight or Else no fight at all But Beauregard is an old Fox and and undestands Sharp [?] tricks as well as the Best of our Generals; But if we could Suceed in Spikeing the Sesesh army at Corinth it would tell a bad tale on Rebeldom I would would give all the Boots I have and throw in my old hat if the thing could be did Several of our company are Sick at this time one of our men from Kickapoo By the name of Starbuck died last night he was not very healthy when he enlisted. E. Forsythe has been quite Sick but is getting better he feels verry bad over the death of his child Several of our Sick taken away to day to Some hospital Burdette Fletcher was one of them he has not been able for duty Since he had the Measels; I Believe all the rest of the Badax boys are tolerable well Burnett Sent his trunk home to day or Started it I dont know whether it will ever get throurgh or not I Sent my fiddle and three blankets and Some clohes in it though I Believe he sent it to Illinois so that Mrs Burnett would See to it when She went down there Robet Mc Said that you was going to Stay with his wife a while I Supose he meant when Mrs Burnett had gone tell Mrs Burnett there is a prospect of a Rite Smart Chance of peaches down here in Tennesy this Season we Just Rec,d this Evening a Report that New Orleans had been taken by the union forces my paper is about out and I must Stop for this time So be a good Girl until I See you Good Bye write often Thos.
