In this letter to his wife, Thomas describes sick soldiers in the regiment with diseases such as diarrhea, bilious and typhoid fevers and that most of the Lake Superior boys have had some sickness. Davis writes that he is hoping the war will end and he will get to go home early before his three year commitment is up. Thomas tells Lucinda he has been speculating in Vicksburg, MS and made over fifty dollars.
