Tom Decker was verry foolish for Bringing his wife down here and She was certainly foolish for wanting to come It is a verry poor place to Bring Respectable Women to visit unless they have Special business and Besides it is verry Expensive n Tom Deckers Expe^ces going home and coming back and Bringing his wife Down here and sending her back; will cost him more money than he has saved in the last year; To Say Nothing of a Small amount (but I dont know how mutch) of Reputation for his Wife; by Bringing her in Such Company The wether is not quite So warm ast it has been and I hope that the hot wether is pretty well passed Aug 28th Well Lucinda it was late yesterday Evening when I commenced this letter So I will finish this morning Before I go on guard Old Mr Moody and a Dutchman of our company Started home on a Sick furlough yesterday morning [illegible] H.
