Davis writes to Lucinda noting that his health is slowly improving. He details that in the coming weeks his rations will require two haversacks, and that they have left Bridgeport and arrived in Chattanooga. Davis details that the landscape is incredibly hilly, and he suspects there will be more running than fighting here. Davis writes that on his way from Bridgeport he saw Brother William, whose regiment is guarding the railroad between Bridgeport and Chattanooga. Davis notes that Brother William's brigade is now a part of the Reserve Corps. Davis also writes that Robert McMichael has gone home on a recruiting tour. He concludes by noting that he is now in his final year as a soldier and that he will finish his first contract before taking another.
