Davis writes to Lucinda that he has had a bad cold for two weeks although his health is gradually improving. He also details that the South is experiencing very cold and snowy weather, much like what he is used to in Wisconsin. Davis writes that the men are currently in Jonesboro, and that they left Larkinsville on the 4th. He notes that the Corps are going to build a bridge across the Flint River before continuing on to Huntsville. Davis also describes the mens' excitement surrounding enlistment in Veteran Service, however he writes that he is happy to be on his last year and that he will not reenlist.
