Davis writes to Lucinda noting that he is in moderate health. He details that he is with the Regiment in Huntsville in order to be mustered into the Veteran Service. Davis notes that once mustered he will be paid and sent back to the Pioneer Corps. He writes that he is not sure when he will get furlough and that the Military Spring Campaign has been set in motion. Davis details that he is waiting to hear from Brother William, as fighting occurred near Daleten, Georgia where Brother William's Regiment was stationed. Davis also writes that Ed Crandall received a letter from Cal Hagerman which detailed that none of the Badax boys enlisted in the Veterans Service. Davis writes that he thinks the war will end within a year because the South will eventually have to give in. Davis concludes by writing that fourteen men were killed by a railroad collision between Huntsville and Stevenson.
