Davis writes Lucinda detailing that he is in his usual health. He notes that the Pioneer Corps has returned to Huntsville and that he has rejoined them. Davis writes that General Sherman and General McPherson also arrived in Huntsville and are preparing a forward movement. Davis notes that there has been talk of the men leaving for furloughs upon the return of the Indiana Regiments. He also details that the Veterans have yet to be paid, and that while deciding to reenlist he determined it would be the most effective way of saving money to set up his and Lucinda's own home when he returns.
