Davis writes to Lucinda expressing concern that he has not heard from her recently and that he fears she may be sick, however he notes that his health is still good. Davis details that with it being spring, people are talking of farming, although he notes that plantations have been ruined by the war. Davis writes that he signed the pay rolls and will likely be paid in a few days. He details that this will be good for him seeing as he has loaned most of his money to the other men. Davis notes that the Regiment will probably start home the first of June, and that he looks forward to living with Lucinda seeing as they have spent a majority of their married life apart.
