Davis writes to Lucinda noting that he has still yet to receive a letter from her. He notes that while he is in good health, he fell from the 2nd story of a building and has injured himself, therefore keeping him out of work for at least several days. Davis details that the Regiment moved to Whitesburg last Sunday, where he thinks they will remain for several weeks. He also wrote, in reference to Lucinda's last letter, that John Carpenter's letter home provided false information regarding the Regiment's furlough, and that no new information has been provided. Davis also details that he received a letter from David Ingersoll and his wife. He concludes by noting that he has thought much about home, friends, the war, wrong, and justice.
