Davis writes Lucinda detailing that while he has been unwell, he is beginning to feel better. He notes that he received letters from Brother William and David Ingersoll. Davis notes that in regards to furloughs he believes they will start home by July 1. He writes that the Regiment is still in Whitesburg and that he has not seen Robert McMichael lately. Davis also notes that the Colonel has neglected to report the Regiment for pay and that as a result he has only been paid for his service through January. He also notes that the Corps has begun receiving newspapers daily in order to keep track of Commanding General Grant's movements in Richmond. Davis concludes by noting that guerrillas and bushwhackers have been troublesome lately, and that several were caught and hanged.
