Davis writes to Lucinda noting that his health and injury are both improving. He notes that he visited the Regiment in Whitesburg and that all were well except Jim Kingston and Merrick Rogers. Davis details that he believes Merrick Rogers will likely be discharged. Davis writes that he hoped to be home before Lucinda's birthday next Monday. He also notes that he received a letter from Mother stating that while she is not completely well she is doing much better. Davis concludes by noting that at present General Sherman is engaged in fighting in Georgia.
