Davis writes to Lucinda noting that his health is about the same. He details that the Regiment came up from Whitesburg and that their Division is now under marching orders and will likely join General Sherman at the front. Davis writes that he sent two hundred dollars home and loaned one hundred dollars to Robert McMichael. Davis details that Brother William has been corresponding with Mary and that he plans to visit her in Iowa while on furlough, Davis suspects they will get married while Brother William is there. He also notes that none of the Caulkin folks have sent word to him through Alvin for a long time. Davis writes that he received a letter from Brother Isaac and concludes by detailing that he does not believe they will start home until November.
