Davis writes to Lucinda noting that his health is good. He details that he has not received many letters since arriving in Cartersville. In response to Lucinda asking for his picture, Davis writes that he will get one when he returns home and that she must remember he is no longer the attractive man who left her at the start of the war. Davis details that he will visit the Regiment tomorrow because some of the men owe him money. Additionally, he writes that he looks at Lucinda's and Charlie's pictures very often. Davis notes that Lucinda should take a better picture where she appears free, easy, and attractive. In conclusion, Davis writes that the mind should be more occupied by intellectual thoughts rather than frivolous ideas, and if it hadn't been for Silvie, he would have made arrangements for Lucinda to attend school while he was away.
