Davis writes Lucinda informing her that he is well as usual. He notes that they are experiencing considerable warm weather which makes the men rather lazy. Davis details that he made a visit to the Regiment, and that all are well except Sam Moore and George Rogers. Additionally, Davis notes that Jim Ringston is in the hospital, and that both Alvin Caulkins and Robert McMichael are in good health. He notes that he received a letter from Louisa Wagner. Davis writes that there was a bit of a surprise when 1500 Rebel Cavalry were reported 18 miles from Cartersville. He details that they were prepared to defend their camp and the railroad, however the Rebels never came so they sent their own unit of Cavalry in pursuit of them. Davis concludes by noting that fighting and skirmishing is a constant occurrence on the front.
