Cartersville Georgia Sunday Aug 28th 1864 Dear Wife I Sit down this pleasent Sabbath day to pen you a few lines to inform you that I have not forgotten you; though I begin to feel as though I was forgotten by you or Else that you are sick and not able to write the last letter I rec'd from you was dated July 26th and that was Rec'd over three weeks ago: Ed Rogers has not Rec'd any letter from home since I have: So I dont get any word from you at all: I have not been so long without a letter from you since I been in the service where the mail comes so regular : the mail comes in every day and every day for over two weeks I have anxiously listened for my name as the list of letters was called off: only to be Disappointed when they were all given out to find there was none for me: I wrote to you last monday and told you that I had been looking for a letter from you So long that I Expected to get a letter from you next mail but a nother week has passed and no letter yet: So I can now assure you that I begin to feel quite uneasy about you but I hope I may soon receive a letter from you which will relieve my anxiety I got [crossed out word] my picture taken a few days ago but I will not send it until I get another letter from you. part of the 18th went up to Cleveland Tenn Several days ago and have not returned yet: they will probably be back in a few day my Co went with them I will not write mutch to day but will write again as soon as I get a letter from you This leaves me in tolerble good health and I hope this may find you well I Remain as Ever your husband T.J.
