Davis writes to Lucinda noting that he is in good health and that they have had very wet weather. He details that the Regiment returned to Cartersville and that he saw the Company on their way to Allatoona. Davis writes that the Regiment will probably be paid this week and is likely to start home next week. He suspects they will reach home around October 15. Davis notes that the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry came here from the front and that he was unaware that Lucinda's nephew was a member. Davis details that Rebels attempted to destroy the railroad and block General Sherman, however they did little damage. Davis concludes by noting that Ed Rogers has not received a letter from Elias in over a month and that he heard Bernett died from the wound he received at Petersburg.
