All seems quiet in this department at present the Rebs tried hard to tare up the RR in Shermans Rear but they did not affect mutch damage to the Road: they were around us quite (turn to 2nd page) page 2 thick for a while but they were quite careful about attacking our forces along the road: Ed Rogers has not Rec'd a letter from Elias for more than a month he thinks Elias is verry Slow about writing . I heard that Bernett died of the wound that he re'c at Petersburg: Some of the boys got that news in a letter from Viroqua ___ I have not Rec'd many letters lately but I dont write [crossed out] [So] as mutch as I used to: I sent you my likeness Sometime ago but I supose you had not Rec'd it when you wrote I think I will bring you a picture before long as I have no neews of importance to [crossed out word] write to day I will close until another day Ever Remaining Yours Truly T.J.
