Lucinda Mary Spaulding was born in Preemption, Mercer County, Illinois, June 12, 1844. When three years of[crossed out] [d] age she went with her parents to Springville, Wisconsin – where she grew to woman- hood. She attended the public schools in Springville and Newton. She was raised by pious parents and joined the Methodist church when she was four- teen years old. On October 6, 1861 she was united in marriage [crossed out] [to] with Thomas J. Davis. Six children were born to this union. They are Mrs. J.W. Hall of Myrtle Point, Oregon. W.J. Davis of Redig, S. Dak and George A. Davis of Capitol, Mont. Fred G. Camp Crook Davis of [crossed out] [Harding] S.Dak. Perry E. Davis deceased and Mrs. Floyed [crossed out] [also] Cook of Belle Fourche. They moved with their family to the Black Hills in 1878. Sidney, Nebr- aska then being the nearest railroad point overland From which place they came ^ by mule team. For two years they lived on the John Spaulding place now known as the John R Jones ranch. In 1880 they moved onto their pre- a part of emption claim now ^ the Lon Holt ranch on Red water south east of Belle Fourche Short In In 1885 the family moved to The ^ Pine [illegible] Hills where they had located a stock ranch, Remaining there until 1891 when they went to [crossed out] [decided to go to] Oregon returning [crossed out] [again] they moved to Camp Crook in 1902. In 1903 [crossed out] [Mr & Mrs Davis kept the] where Mr Davis served as post master for a year [crossed out] [post office at Camp Crook.] [crossed out] [In] 1909 they until They filed on a homestead and made their home in Harding Co ^ bought [crossed out] [the John Hanes] a farm one and a half miles south east of Belle Fourche and lived there until Mr Davis' death in January 1915. Mrs. Davis since has [crossed out] [kept] made her home with her daughter Mrs Floyd Cook. Mrs Davis was a woman who was always interested in the welfare of her friends and com all who knew her munity. Her passing will be regretted by [crossed out] [many] Besides her children she leaves to mourn her passing one brother J.F. Spaulding of Yountville BF Calif. two nieces Mrs Jas. Henderson of and Mrs Jas. Mit- chell of Amidon N.Dak, thirty-two grandchildren near and nineteen great grand children .
