Gabbie writes to her sister about general happenings and people who have visited her. She mentions that she "fell" and has been occupied with "work & company" ever since. She recounts a pleasant visit from Melville and Betsy Foote, in which they went to a museum, ate grapes off of the vine, and had good conversations despite Melville's poor hearing. Gabbie was appreciative that Betsy helped with the housework during their stay. Next, she tells a story about the struggle to meet a friend (Perry) at a Port Huron railroad station after a communication breakdown. Then, upon arriving at their intended destination, Croswell, Michigan, the weather turned cold and Gabbie's knee began hurting. Back home, Gabbie writes that her knee has made housework difficult. She goes on to mention how Glenn missed out on a job at an electrical company and details the list of foods that May (presumably Glenn's wife) has preserved for the winter. Gabbie also describes a Halloween party thrown by the local chapter of the Baptist Young People's Union (BYCU) of America, people using the telephone, and her preferences in magazines and newspapers. (Note: There is no year on this letter, but it must be after 1891, because the Baptist Young People's Union was not incorporated until that year).
