1862 12 Camp Benton [Jan?] Miss Emmie the reason why I did not write sooner was one account of getting my picture taken t we are all well att presen^ and hope that you are the same I sepose you had a good time at Ovid a new year it is verry cold here today and dull [today?] there a battle [illegible] near ber Cairo there was a num^ left here to day tell me what the young folks are a | doing and what Will is a doing for i have received no letter from him tell will to write soon to me Inclosed you will find my picture I would like to have you to tell me what for a time you had at [illegible] at Christmas I heard that W Adams was Married at New Year and ed Eli [Tinklepangh?] was marri^ to [Frank?] Miller if it is so please let me know tell Will when he goes up to Adams to take one good look at my old home for me I sepose that the young folks will all get married before we get home well let them [illegible] I hope they will have a good time and a long life tell Will when he gets married to ask me to his Wedding and I will come no more at present remaning your friend give my respects to all the Ladies Samuel Brubaker to Emmie D
