Winter st Barracks St Louis Mo May 16th 1864 Dear Em I now seat my self to write a fiew lines to you to let you know that we are all well at present and i hope when this reaches you it will find you all enjoying the same blessing we did not move to camp davidson the day that i wrote my last letter but we were ordered to little rock immediately and we have been ready to start for three days but there is no boat for us yet there has been six companies of the regiment that have gone and we are a waiting for a boat but i guess we will have today i have sent one blanket home and two pictures which you can get it is mary and rachels pictures i would have kept them but i could not carry them the boys are in good spirits except they have no money and they do not like to have with out their pay, you must excust this pencil writing for i have got every thing packed to leave when you write direct as before write soon no more at present but remain your affectionate husband E.A.
