I recieved a letter from will to day he is at knoxville Tenn yet and was well when he wrote he did not write a very long letter he said that he had not heard from home in about ten days. When we left Mobile we left one of our company there sick and we have just got news to day that he is dead. he died the next day after we left he was not from our county but he was a fine young man he has a brother-in-law in the company is all the relation that he has here that i know of. There was about one hundred and forty (140) of our regiment mustered out a fiew days ago and they have gone to new Orleans now to get their pay and then they are coming home. George Mowat is one of the number. the weather is very hot and dry here now there has not been any rain here for three months and there is no signs of any soon but the crops looks well the corn is out in silk here now. we are going to leave here in three or four days and unless we start for the north i shall express some money to you before we leave here enclosed you will find a photograph of one of our company that was gave to me to day now i must close for this time write soon and often no more at this time but remain your loving husband Wm.
