(San Antonio Texas (Nov 22nd 1865 Dear Wife I now seat my self to write a fiew lines to you. i recieved a letter from you this afternoon dated Oct 29th it found me well and i hope when this reaches you it will find you all enjoying good health. you must not get discouraged about our getting home for i think that we will all be on our road home before many weeks. there is some troops mustered out here every day. there was one Ohio regiment mustered out yesterday and they are going to start for home tomorrow and next Friday there is two more regiments going to be mustered out of the service. and i think that our time will come next month I was in the city this afternoon and i saw quite a number of indians there getting rations their chief was with them they are a hard looking race some of them can talk just as good as anybody. and some cant understand anything that you say to them. i heard that you have had some snow in mich this fall already. and here there is lots of roses out in fall bloom. i dont hardly know what i should do if i get home in the middle of winter. for we have been in a warm country so long. but i would try and get along in some way. I should like to get home while you are out at work some place i would come over and see you. i saw [Lem?] while i was at the company he is so fat that you could hardly know him and he wears some whiskers the General is very sick he is so that he does not know what he is about more than half of his time. i think that it is on account of his drinking so much. he went to the doctor this morning and ask him to cut off a piece of his finger. and the doctor told him that he had better lay down a while. but he was bound to have a piece of his finger taken off. As news are very scarce i will close for this time write as soon as you get this and so often as you can no more at present but remain your loving husband Wm Eaegle E.A.E.
