(San Antonio Texas (Jan 31st 1866 Dear wife As i have a fiew Leasure moments i will improve it in writing to you. i am well at present and i hope when this reaches you it will find you enjoying the same good health. i am on guard again to day. but i dont think that i will have any more guard duty to do while we stay here. for there is orders here now for our regiment to be mustered out immediatly. and there is no guess work about that for i have seen the order myself. and some of the muster out rolls have come to the regiment to day. i think that before you get this letter that we will be on our road home. we are going to get rid of all of our horses in a day or two and then we will have nothing to do only to get ready to start. The boys all of them acts as if they could hardly wait for the time to come, this court martial has broke down on account of the order coming to mustre them out and i guess they will all be released before we leave here. The weather is very pleasant here now. and has been for sometime. there has not been only a fiew nights that it would freeze ice here. As there is nothing of any importance i will close for this time. you need not write again until you hear from me. Give my respects to all no more at present but remain your loving husband Wm Eaegle E.A.E.
