Apr 27th 1862 Dear friend i now seat my self to answer your letter which i recieved yesterday and was glad to hear from greenbush we are all well at present and hope this will find you all the same i cant write much for want of time as i dont know what minute we may be called to leave here we have to get up at three oclock in the morning and saddle and bridle our horses and put on our arms and stay up till daylight so as not to be surprised by the rebels we will have a big fight here soon i expect we have over 200,000 troops here and the rebels has [crossed out] [1250] 125,000 i expect to be in this fight and after the fight i will write a longer letter it is very hot here and there is peaches as large as hickorynuts here now and [pinks?] are in full bloom tell Willard to write me a long letter as i wrote the last one now i will stop writing direct your letter Wm Eaegles Co.
