May 29th 1862 Dear friend i now seat myself to write a fiew lines to you but it will be a fiew lines for i have not time to write an account of this battle for i expect every minute when we will be orderd out and then i will have to drop all i have in my hands and go and saddle my horse we are all well at present and hope the folks are all well in greenbush the canon is roaring all the time it sounds something like the fourth of July here every day i think we will be in Corinth in a fiew days if we have good luck i should like to know what Ann Adams told you and i can tell whether i said it or not now i must stop writing for we have to saddle our horses so no more at present but remain your friend Wm Eaegles to E.A.
